Ministers of Cool is a collective of Winnipeg musicians from diverse musical backgrounds each with international experience as performers, producers and composers. The band formed in 2000 as the funky house band for Prairie Theatre Exchange’s production of Godspell leading to a demand for performances at festivals and high profile events. The band soon recognized that they had a unique style and significant musical firepower and began composing original songs that meld the varied range of influences. The first original, Gotta Get This Place, won the National Winter Lights Songwriting Competition in Ottawa prompting them to continue composing while exploring a range of styles that represent the band’s vocal and instrumental abilities. Their tight, high energy grooves earned praise from Blues Brother, Dan Aykroyd who performed a sold out Winnipeg show performing with the Ministers
